car raid

car raid

On a Saturday morning, I sat inside a 2012 ford f150 with my childhood friend, john smith.

As I scanned all of the contents of his car, I noticed that there was a bunch of cd's, a camera bag, and a guitar case in the trunk. "I've been playing guitar since I was around 10 years old," explains Martins. The 17 year old junior, who resides in Houston, is apart of a band called Sleepy Dog with his close friends.

Martins has also shown a passion in photography, which he learned to appreciate during his freshman year of high school. "I love being able to capture the moments that matter to me," he states. "messing around with photoshop is also really fun." He's gained a lot of his interests from his mom, who loves photography and making art.

As he shows me all of his cd's, he includes, "I grew up listening to bands like The Strokes and Arctic Monkeys, which really inspired me to start making my own music."

In addition, a Brazilian flag keychain sits inside one of his cup holders. Martins was born in the city of Sao Paulo, but moved to Dallas when he was only 3 years old. "I travel to Brazil once every few years," He comments. "I love being bilingual. It has so many advantages!"

When I glanced at the floor of the car, I stumbled upon an opened acceptance letter from UNT. "UNT has a great radio, television, and film program that I'm really interested in," Martins states. "I'm so ready to leave high school."

He plans to continue with his band during college and play at more venues. "I really wanna play at sxsw next year," he says. He describes his genre as indie surf / garage rock. Aside from guitar, he plays bass and a little bit of drums.

Opion story

Many high school students do not have enough time to complete all of their assignments, i know speaking for my self with juggling sports, a job, and social life pilled on top of all the work assigned at school is a nightmare. There just aren't enough hours in the day to complete everything every student has eight classes within two days and every class has work that you must complete in it.

missing work is terrible it goes in directly as a zero and until its turned in fully completed the grade will lower your average no matter what. And low grades on test, projects, and daily assignments also mess everything up too.

With more and more things and more and more responsibilities every year it is almost impassive for kids today to complete everything in school and this is a huge problem. Many kids are staying up way later than they should not getting the healthy amount of sleep they need.

Something must be done with this problem it affects everyone and heres how. Kids have to much homework which makes them stressed out and mad and upset and is generally unhealthy from lac of sleep and just so much stress which commonly makes them rude and not themselves and so as their grades call they will start to have attitude with there parents and the parents will be mad there children have so much work to do and everyone is affected by this.

the only people able to do anything about this is the teachers. Teachers assign everything and using different methods and different ways to teach kids they can save a lot of paper and a lot of students time. Instead of having so many assignments only have a fees but the students should really now the subject so that its almost  guaranteed A.

This problem has been going on for many years and has one clear solution and it will only get worse until someone does something about this.
